XRP rebounds as derivatives improve, but faces EMA resistance

Key takeaways

  • XRP traded near $1.374 on Tuesday following Monday’s price drop.
  • A long-to-short ratio of 1.09 reflects a slight tilt toward long positions.
  • Immediate support for XRP lies at $1.339, followed by $1.300, while initial resistance sits at $1.381.

XRP recorded modest gains on Tuesday as derivatives positioning improved following the previous day’s downturn.

Trading near $1.374, the cryptocurrency showed signs of stabilizing, though conflicting funding rates suggest market participants remain split over the strength of the rebound.

Overhead moving-average resistance and weak buying momentum continue to weigh on the token’s near-term outlook.

Long-to-short ratios show a slight bullish tilt

Data from CoinGlass showed XRP’s long-to-short ratio standing at 1.09 on Tuesday. Readings higher than 1.0 indicate that long positions outnumber shorts across tracked accounts.

These figures reveal a mild preference for bullish exposure in both assets. Nevertheless, the metric does not signal strong market conviction, and positioning by itself is insufficient to guarantee continued price increases.

Adding to the uncertainty, XRP’s funding rate turned negative on Monday and sat at -0.0055% on Tuesday. A negative funding rate requires short traders to pay long holders, indicating ongoing demand for short exposure despite the slightly positive long-to-short ratio.

XRP remains below key moving averages

At $1.374, XRP remains priced below its 200-day exponential moving average of $1.381 and its 50-day EMA of $1.395.

These technical thresholds form the initial resistance barrier confronting the current rebound. While the token remains above its 100-day EMA at $1.339—which offers immediate support—holding below the 50-day and 200-day EMAs preserves a short-term bearish bias.

The Relative Strength Index lingers near 40, pointing to sluggish purchasing interest while remaining above oversold levels.

The Moving Average Convergence Divergence indicator also remains in negative territory, reinforcing a guarded market posture.

A persistent move above $1.381 and $1.395 would relieve near-term technical stress.

Beyond that moving-average threshold, technical analysis points to higher horizontal resistance levels at $1.671 and $1.900.

To the downside, the 100-day EMA at $1.339 serves as primary support, followed by $1.300.

A drop beneath $1.300 would undermine the recovery pattern, exposing deeper potential support near $1.000.

While recovering derivatives metrics provide some optimism, XRP requires a significant surge in momentum to reclaim its overhead moving averages.
