XDC Network selects Concordium for AI agent identity verification
  • XDC Network has tapped Concordium to authenticate the owners of AI agents.
  • Authenticated agents earn on-chain badges while personal information remains strictly private.
  • The agreement features revenue sharing along with covered network transaction fees.

In a strategic move to boost accountability for artificial intelligence agents conducting financial transactions, XDC Network has chosen Concordium as the exclusive identity verification provider for its agent payments marketplace, XDC AI.

Revealed on October 14, 2026, the partnership allows AI agents operating on XDC AI to acquire an on-chain verification badge. This badge confirms that a verified individual or corporate entity stands behind the agent, all without publicly exposing the owner’s identity.

XDC Network functions as a Layer-1 blockchain focused on trade finance, real-world assets, and payment solutions.

Debuted in July 2026, XDC AI enables autonomous agents to utilize non-custodial wallets to discover services and pay for them in USDC via the x402 payment standard.

By adding this identity verification framework, the platform aims to assist businesses and institutions in confirming accountability for an agent before authorizing it to execute financial transactions.

Concordium introduces verified ownership for AI agents

Under the newly established process, agent owners undergo identity checks through the Concordium Wallet.

The verification requires submitting a passport and passing a liveness check performed by an independent identity provider.

Owners then link their XDC wallets using two signatures that do not transfer any funds, after which they register their agents.

Once completed, Concordium generates a publicly verifiable badge while keeping all personal data off-chain.

As detailed in the announcement, revealing an owner’s actual identity requires a valid court order alongside joint authorization from independent Privacy Guardians.

Atul Khekade, co-founder of XDC Network, noted that the integration meets a crucial need for institutions to confirm who stands behind an AI agent prior to entrusting it with financial transactions. He added that the mechanism allows developers to build clear accountability without putting personal records on the blockchain.

Boris Bohrer-Bilowitzki, chief executive officer of Concordium, highlighted that transaction features alone cannot establish who bears responsibility for an agent’s actions. He stated that the collaboration combines XDC’s transactional infrastructure with identity checks for the individuals or companies operating participating agents.

XDC becomes Concordium’s first full-network integration

While Concordium already offers AI agent verification on Solana and Ethereum, XDC represents its initial full-network integration.

The participating companies stated that agents can maintain their existing XDC code, wallets, and operational workflows while utilizing Concordium solely for identity validation.

This design allows the identity layer to be incorporated seamlessly without forcing agents to replace their current wallet setups or operational systems.

The commercial agreement also includes a revenue-sharing model for every verified agent. Each authenticated agent generates a Concordium account linked directly to a verified owner.

Furthermore, network fees are fully sponsored, removing any requirement for developers to hold CCD tokens to access the verification service.

The system is designed to keep verification accessible for developers while providing a crucial accountability framework for agents transacting in the marketplace.

However, the announcement omitted the specific financial terms of the revenue-sharing agreement and did not reveal projected user numbers for the service.

Verification aims to support institutional adoption

The integration comes as AI agents increasingly gain the ability to locate services and settle transactions with minimal human intervention.

In these automated environments, confirming the individual or business answerable for an agent is a critical factor for organizations deciding whether to grant financial authority.

XDC Network’s marketplace already supports automated USDC payments between agents.

Concordium’s verification framework provides a way to link an agent to its authenticated owner while ensuring that owner’s identity remains private by default.

Both companies confirmed that agent verification is now live on the XDC AI website, with technical guides available via its developer documentation portal.

The rollout broadens Concordium’s reach across public blockchains and provides XDC AI participants with an added tool for verifying agent ownership.

Ultimately, widespread adoption will depend on how effectively developers and enterprise institutions integrate identity checks into their agent-driven financial workflows.
