Geely Sweden CEO joins Concordium Board to advance AI Agent trust
  • Per Ansgar, CEO of Geely Sweden, joins the Concordium Foundation board.
  • Concordium is broadening its scope to prioritize authenticated AI agents and digital transactions.
  • The collaboration between Geely and Concordium is growing to advance automated machine payments.

The Concordium Foundation has appointed Per Ansgar, chief executive officer of Geely Sweden Holdings AB, to its board of directors. This move strengthens the blockchain developer’s ties with the Geely group as it builds out infrastructure for secure digital interactions and autonomous AI agents.

Ansgar brings more than 26 years of financial and automotive industry expertise to the board.

Over his career, Ansgar has held senior positions at Volvo Cars, Polestar, and other entities within the Geely ecosystem.

His appointment marks the next phase of a collaborative relationship between Concordium and Geely that initiated in 2021.

A Deepening Five-Year Partnership

The collaboration between Concordium and Geely originally centered on autonomous driving technology and was formalized in 2022 through a joint venture established in Wuxi, China.

Since then, the two companies have investigated machine-to-machine payment capabilities, allowing connected vehicles to interact directly with infrastructure and service providers.

This setup enables vehicles to autonomously pay for services such as toll fees, battery charging, and maintenance without needing driver intervention.

Concordium is now broadening its scope to establish infrastructure for verified digital interactions, focusing specifically on transactions driven by AI agents.

As software increasingly executes financial actions on its own, Concordium is designing systems to clearly identify who owns, authorizes, and holds liability for an AI agent’s actions.

According to Ansgar, vehicles and their integrated software are rapidly becoming active transaction participants.

He noted that establishing trust in this environment requires verifiable proof of who authorized and remains accountable for a payment—a challenge that Concordium is actively working to solve.

Ansgar’s Financial and Automotive Background

Ansgar has served as the chief executive officer of Geely Sweden Holdings since November 2024, stepping up from his previous role as chief financial officer.

His career includes a 26-year tenure at Volvo Cars, where his roles included deputy CFO and CFO of Volvo Cars China.

He later transitioned to chief financial officer at Polestar. Beyond his executive duties, Ansgar holds several board seats within the Geely group and is a member of the nomination committee for Volvo Car AB.

By joining the board, Ansgar integrates senior Geely leadership directly into Concordium’s governance. This comes as the blockchain platform designs systems to link verified human users and AI agents to secure transactions.

The Concordium Foundation Board is led by its founder, Lars Seier Christensen.

Its other board members include ETH Zurich cryptography professor Ueli Maurer, Swiss commercial lawyer Simone Monnerat, and digital executive Nibras Stiebar-Bang.

Scaling Infrastructure for the Agentic Economy

Concordium is increasingly directing its resources toward establishing verifiable identities for autonomous AI agents.

The platform’s infrastructure allows external parties to confirm that an agent has been properly authorized by a verified individual or corporate entity.

Launched in May 2026, Concordium’s Agent Registry has already registered over 1,600 AI agents. Every registered agent is tied to a verified owner and receives a “Verified by Concordium Badge.”

This digital badge is compatible with major networks like Ethereum and Solana, enabling AI agents to prove ownership details without revealing sensitive corporate documentation.

Concordium positions itself as an AI infrastructure layer for the agentic economy, utilizing a regulatory-compliant blockchain that integrates identity and trust directly into its protocol.

Ansgar’s appointment signals a shift from Concordium’s early automotive-centric work with Geely toward a more comprehensive transaction model. In this framework, vehicles, software, and AI agents can execute transactions while remaining securely linked to identifiable, responsible owners.
